Oral presentation guidelines
Oral abstract sessions feature leading research across various disciplines within epidemiology and public health. These 2-hour sessions provide a platform for speakers to present their research findings, followed by a moderated question-and-answer sessions led by field experts.
Presentation technical requirements
Presentation length:
Presenters of oral abstracts are requested to prepare an 8-minute presentation. An ideal 8-minute presentation comprises of 8 content slides, excluding the title slide provided. Presentations exceeding 8 minutes will be promptly interrupted by session moderators.
Title slide:
Click here to access the “title slide” template for your presentation. Complete the information and submit it together with your presentation to the Speaker Centre once your presentation is ready.
Format:
The presentation software for WCE2024 exclusively supports PowerPoint slides; other formats such as Keynote are not compatible. When preparing your presentation, note that high-definition (HD) projectors will be utilised for all oral sessions. Please ensure your slides are formatted in widescreen mode (aspect ratio 16:9) with a resolution of 1920 x 1080.
Font and size:
Avoid using special fonts that are not included in the standard PowerPoint package, as this may lead to issues during file upload.
For content slides, it’s advisable to utilize a font size ranging from 26 to 32 (based on Arial font) for text. This ensures approximately 7 lines of text, including a header, making details visible from the back of a large ballroom. It’s recommended to avoid overly detailed figures or large blocks of text.
Special characters:
To avoid any compatibility problems, please do not use special characters (e.g. «, Ö, Ø, ñ, ε, ®, ý, }, {, etc.) to name your presentation or movie files.
File size:
There is no size limit for presentations uploaded onsite at the Speaker Centre (it is however recommended that presentations do not exceed 500 MB).
Embedded videos:
Most video files types (e.g. .MP4, MPEG, .wmv, .AVI, etc.) are accepted. All embedded videos must be tested and checked in advance in the Speaker Centre to be sure they will work properly.
